Uno is Numero Uno!

Beagles have long been one of America’s favorite breeds of dog. However, a Beagle has never won Best in Show at the Westminister Kennel Club Dog Show – until now.

Making Westminister history, Uno, an almost-3-year-old Beagle stole the show and took home the coveted blue ribbon. As he was crowned Top Dog, Uno received a standing ovation, a sight no one can remember seeing in the history of the renowned dog show.

The lack of Beagles in the winner’s circle has been best explained by the fact that Beagles have always been thought of as “pet dogs.” They are seen more as companions or hunters, but not as fancy show dogs the way Poodles are. But Uno proved a happy-go-lucky family dog can still be beautiful and breed-perfect.

The judge who picked Uno out of the bunch had no idea he was making history. But Uno seemed to understand the thrill of beating the 2,627 city’s-best entries from around the country. As he was applauded, Uno bayed with the crowd, wagging his tail in victory.
